Horizon Impact

Horizon Impact

Horizon Digital Economy Research and the Centre for Doctoral Training are funded by both RCUK and The University of Nottingham.

An important part of this funding is to demonstrate the impact our research has on academia, society and the economy.

Our research spans multiple disciplines and crosses sectors such as Creative Industries, Energy, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Transport to name a few. The projects our researchers and CDT students undertake are ‘in the wild’ and all show the demonstrable contribution that excellent research makes to academic advances in understanding, methods, theory and application as well as the contribution it makes to society as well as the economy.

Economic and societal impacts embrace all the extremely diverse ways in which research-related knowledge and skills benefit individuals, organisations and nations by:

  • fostering global economic performance, and specifically the economic competitiveness of the United Kingdom,
  • increasing the effectiveness of public services and policy,
  • enhancing quality of life, health and creative output.
