Open-space and Citizens’ juries to explore older people’s views on optimising health and wellbeing benefits for a ‘Smart City Nottingham’

Dr Elvira Perez (Associate Professor of Digital Tech for Mental Health, NIHR BRC and former Senior Research Fellow at Horizon Digital Economy Research) presented a poster entitled Open-space and Citizens’ juries to explore older people’s views on optimising health and wellbeing benefits for a ‘Smart City Nottingham’  earlier today at The MindTech 2017 Mental Health Technology Symposium ‘Digital Technology in Practice’, held at the Royal College of Physicians in London.

The poster captured older people’s concerns and recommendations on Smart Health using Personas and Citizen Juries methodologies. Preliminary results identified three themes to be addressed:

  • Safety monitoring vs concerns of loss of independence
  • Balance between online services and offline social networks
  • Balance between data-sharing and privacy
