Hybrid Gifts

Leveraging the trend of consumers becoming active co-creators of content and the emergence of IoT technologies, the Hybrid Gifting project aims to explore novel forms of hybrid gifts that flexibly combine physical products with digital media, in ways that enhance the holistic experience and support emerging gifting practices. This involves addressing two key research challenges:

• Exploring how can we customize and combine physical things with digital content to create an enhanced personalized gift, and
• How can we effectively engage a series of stakeholders through the different stages of the gifting process for hybrid artefacts

These will be explored through a collaboration with Debbie Bryan’s Craft Shop, Nottingham. An app, to be used by givers and receivers, will be developed, connecting to the Horizon Chronicle platform and two public crafting workshops will be hosted.
