In November N/LAB’s Gavin Smith showcased at an event during DFID’s Tech week. He demonstrated work on automated road condition monitoring from Earth Observation imagery to inform transport planning and drive improved economic and social outcomes in Tanzania, Africa. Held at DFID’s Whitehall London office on Monday the 26th of November, the event promoted the role of technology in delivering effective and lasting solutions to international development/aid issues. Four innovation pilot projects being funded by DIFD (in our case managed by FTL) that use technology to realise impact were present. The event was attended by VIPs including Penny Mordaunt, U.K. secretary of state for international development and Matthew Rycroft, U.K. permanent secretary of state for international development.
