Gender and Robots workshop

Where: Cobot Maker Space, Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham

When: 14th November, 15:30 – 17:30pm

Robots are becoming increasingly integrated into our everyday lives, impacting various sectors, such as healthcare, retail, hospitality, education, finance and transportation. As part of our Gendernet project we are holding a participatory workshop involving human and robot interaction to address questions such as:

• Does our behaviour towards robots change when we assign them a gender?
• Will behaviour towards female robots reflect underlying misogynistic, sexist, or antifeminist behaviours?
• As robots now borrow generative AI voices and express AI content, what role does generative AI play in this? And how should we design robots to prevent harm?

We will be reflecting on these challenges and discussing some potential solutions.

This is an opportunity to meet other people interested in embodied and generative AI and we are especially interested in welcoming colleagues from different academic disciplines and fields, experts in gender studies, creatives and legal scholars.
